CITY OF HENDERSON HOSTS ANNUAL HERITAGE PARADE & FESTIVAL

The annual Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival will take place on Saturday, April 19 in the Water Street District in Henderson from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The community-wide event, which allows residents to celebrate 55 years of Henderson’s heritage and vitality, features a pancake breakfast, parade and the International Food & Folklife Festival.

Kicking off the celebrations will be the Mayor & Council Pancake Breakfast at 8 a.m. in front of the Henderson Convention Center, located at 200 S. Water Street, followed by the parade down Water Street at 10 a.m.

The parade route will begin at Water Street and Ocean Avenue and proceed down to Water Street and Victory Road. Over 100 entries including marching bands, special interest vehicles, floats and more will be dressed to the theme of “The Wonderful World of Music.” All entries entered into the parade will be judged to win prizes and awards.

“The City of Henderson has flourished since its inception 55 years ago,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “This weekend’s celebration pays homage to those who’ve contributed to Henderson’s reputation as being one of the most desired places to live, raise a family and enjoy life.”

The celebrations continue with the International Food & Folklife Festival from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water Street. The International Food & Folklife Festival, which moves to Henderson after years of being held in Las Vegas, is the newest addition to this rich tradition. The festival features delicious world cuisine, hours of live entertainment, colorful costumes, crafts, kid’s activities and more.

Additionally, classic cars of all years, makes and models will line Water Street from Basic Street to Atlantic Avenue from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information about this year’s Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival, call (702) 267-2171 or visit www.HendersonLive.com.
