HENDERSON EVENTS PLAZA MURAL TO BE UNVEILED

 
The City of Henderson Cultural Arts & Tourism Department will unveil a new mosaic art mural at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water Street, on Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m. Admission and parking is free.
 
The unveiling of “Artistic Freedom,” designed by Hal Carter, is a colorful tile collage that celebrates the performing and cultural arts in the community. Its array of instruments and symbols from music, visual arts and theatre represent the full spectrum of the events that the City of Henderson hosts yearly. 
 
“The City of Henderson congratulates Hal Carter with the unveiling of his work in the Henderson Events Plaza,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “It is a unique mural that has captured the essence of the City’s community events and live performances.”
 
Based out of Southern Utah, Hal Carter is noted for his is multi-dimensional and conceptual art designs. His traditional and contemporary art pieces, including crafted wood, sandstone, mosaic furniture and wall hangings, have been displayed in a variety of art galleries and festivals in Utah and Nevada.
 
The mosaic is the newest installation of public art in the Water Street District in downtown Henderson. It joins the Embarq building, 7-11 building and the Muffler Shop, which have become a canvas for murals depicting the progression of Henderson for over 50 years.
 
The large art piece, which stands 32 feet by 8 feet, will be the centerpiece of the Henderson Events Plaza. It will be placed on the southeast wall of the Plaza’s amphitheatre, adjacent to City Hall.
 
“Artistic Freedom” will be unveiled prior to the Katey Sagal performance that begins at 8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza Amphitheatre stage. Audiences will be able to admire the unique mural as well as listen to remarks by the artist and the City of Henderson.
